About Me

Hey all! Thanks for visiting, reading this and making sure I'm not some creep (I promise I'm not :P)

My name is Jamie. I reside in sunny southern California (Pretty close to LA but closer to Disneyland). I am 24, I love animals (Prefer dogs because I've grown up with them) and I have the cutest, smartest pup named Charlie Papas...and I am about to graduate from college! My major is Human Services, which is basically (How I always like describe it as) therapy/counseling. This means I like listening and talking, especially on deeper levels. I am outgoing and also easy going. I am a pretty patient person who is openminded. I have a good sense of humor and I always tend to see the good in everyone and everything. I am definitely an optimist. I truly enjoy meeting new people and learning about them, their language and all about their culture. I think the coolest thing is being able to make friends with people who I probably would have never had if it were not for technology and transportation-- it's flippin' amazing the time we live in!

I am a firm believer that to become a better, more well-rounded individual, one MUST travel! I am fascinated by all the things that I can vicariously learn through other people.

Lets see... I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, taking photos (I really enjoy capturing moments), learning languages and dancing (I prefer hip hop). Okay, since we're on the topic of hip-hop... (another way to verify me) in 2011, I was involved in a viral youtube video (Over 10 million views) where my friends got engaged at Downtown Disney. (Look up: "Jamin's Downtown Disney Flashmob proposal"). If you watch the original video, my name pops up at the end and during the video I'm dancing at the top left... I was nervous that day so don't criticize my dance moves too much :P

Music, Movies, and Books

I am pretty open to all music. I usually am on the alternative, pop, hiphop, R&B side though.

I have a plethora of movies that are good, however, my good friends say I'm a harsh movie critic plus when I was younger I worked at movie theater (FREE MOVIES!) but....My favorite movie so far is Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. Something about being young, when I first watched this movie, and having a bunch of junk food (cookies and ice cream) and watching movies late without my parents telling me to go to bed was any child's dream.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done missionary work in Haiti. I've been to Haiti 3 times within the last 3 years and there's something about the people of Haiti that I really love. Their hospitality, resilience and generosity are somethings that I am still instilling in my own life.

Teach, Learn, Share

There's always something good in each day. Look for those moments. Live a life of gratitude. Be teachable. Be friendly. Be intentional in what you do.

"[...] what is done in love is well done." - Vincent Van Gogh

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share time. Although I know that's a broad statement, I believe that time is so valuable and important. It is something that cannot be bought. Being able to give your time to something shows the importance it has in your life.

I want to get to know your culture, your language and most importantly-- YOU. There are so many stories of why we are who we are today and I believe every story matters. There's so much to learn from one another and I am stoked to be able to continue to grow and better myself as a person traveling to different places.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Haiti, Italy, Philippines
