About Me

If you host me and you are busy or just want to do your own thing, I'm totally happy to be left alone. But, also, I'm very happy to hang out, go for some beers etc

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Voy a ir a Barcelona por trabajo por 2 dias, en estas dias tengo accomodacion pero no voy a tener algo tiempo por disfrutar la cuidad, entonces quiero quedar por mas tiempo despuis.
More generally, I've only ever hosted once before but I had such a good time doing it that I'm excited to experience it from the other side. I think Couchsurfing in general is a really nice idea and a good example of the internet being used for something communal.

Interests

I studied English at university and am returning to do an English masters after summer, so reading is a big part of my life (and it's my eventual ambition to be a writer). I'm also really into music; have a fairly eclectic taste but mainly guitar music, electronic and a bit of hip-hop. I play guitar, piano and sing a little. I've played in a few bands before and still write music, but I have to admit I haven't done anything musical in a while.
I'm also quite interested in visual art and photography but have very little knowledge about either!

Music, Movies, and Books

Difficult to say with music; I used to listen to lots of guitar music, Deerhunter, The Smiths, Velvet Underground, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Ultra Vivid Scene but these days I tend to listen to more hip-hop and electronic music, right now I'm really into a British solo artist called Blood Orange. I also really like soul and blues; Nina Simone, Dionne Warwick, Billie Holliday etc etc.
Films - my favourite film of all time is probably 'The Great Beauty', I also like a lot of Spanish films, particularly Almodovar, who is one of the reasons I moved to Madrid. Sadly, life there was not as much like an Almodovar film as I had hoped.
Books- I'm more interested in memoir, essays and creative non-fiction than conventional novels. I think my favourite book of all time is 'I Put A Spell On You' by John Burnside which you really should read as it is amazing and heartbreaking. I'm reading a lot of David Foster Wallace at the moment, who was kind of pretentious and annoying but also a very interesting guy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Don't think I've really done anything 'amazing' in my life, but there's still time, right?

Teach, Learn, Share

I have lots of experience teaching English and think I'm a pretty good teacher; so if I was to stay at yours (or vice versa) and you wanted to do some English lessons , or just generally practise, I'd be very happy to do that.
