About Me

Hi there! I'm a journalist living in NYC. I'm originally from a tiny town (Sonoma) in Northern California, I've since lived in San Diego, Istanbul and now NYC. Can't wait to see where the next adventure leads!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm interested in the spirit of couchsurfing - the cultural exchange and making connections, not just "a free place to crash."

(That said, I'm also comfortable being independent and exploring on my own when necessary.)

I've had really good experiences with a variety of hosts over the last few years, and have found that Couchsurfing is one of my favorite ways to meet new people, whether I'm traveling or at home.

Interests

Writing, reading, waterskiing, running, walking, and good conversations.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many! I like music I can dance to and music that has good lyrics.

I love Fleabag, Mad Men, The Office, and Parks & Recreation, (among others!).

My favorite book is one I found on a "Take a Book, Leave a Book" shelf at a campground in Germany, it's called Beautiful Ruins. I also liked Sweetbitter, Gone Girl, The Futures, and Trick Mirror. I mostly prefer fiction for leisure reading, but I read some non-fiction/essays/memoirs too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to be on a waterski team in college. One of my favorite travel experiences was fighting through a brutal hangover to find a very remote waterski lake outside Madrid - totally worth it.

It's not amazingly rare, but living in Istanbul and walking among centuries-old ruins, palaces, and mosques is definitely something that's inspired awe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm great if you want someone to read what you've written or discuss current events with. I'm a pretty good listener as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Travel stories, budget travel tips, doing dishes, being your kitchen assistant (or cooking...but at your own risk), wine, good conversation, and an open ear.

Countries I’ve Visited
