Overview
About Me
Australian living in Melbourne. I started my career as an Engineer, moved to management and project management. Took a chance to live in Japan last year. Now back in Melbourne working as a chef and baker. On a small career break to travel.
Open minded and easy-going, I value connecting with others, having a laugh, appreciating new experiences, and sharing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While I have always enjoyed the hostel experience, I've also often thought about CouchSurfing and have met many travelers involved in the CS community that only have great things to say. I'm excited to finally give it a whirl because I know how great it is to have a local's perspective on a place and how nice it is to really connect with locals rather than just passing through in your own bubble.
Whichever point I'm at in my life, I always want to stay connected with the global community. Can't wait to host surfers myself.
Interests
Good conversation, meaningful connections.
Challenging and learning about myself... or about anything really! Very curious person at heart.
Being outdoors, film, science and the universe, new music, being healthy, tennis and Australian football.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: love tracking down hidden gems on SoundCloud.
Movies: Original Star Wars Trilogy! Classic black and white Samurai films, Coen Brothers, Jack Nicholson... A few recent favorites include 'Enemy', 'Under the Skin' and 'Nightcrawler'.
Books: Original 'Dracula' still my fav. Non-fiction favorite: 'Thinking Fast and Slow' by Daniel Kahneman.
I read everything, from Game of Thrones to currently an interesting self help book on time management. In non-fiction I generally enjoy Malcom Gladwell, Bill Bryson and Alain de Botton. Fiction is more variable though. Can't go wrong with Murakami and Japanese literature. Otherwise, a couple of recent favourites are 'The Remains of the Day' and 'Cloud Atlas'.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed through the bamboo forest to the top of Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) in China with two great companion's I'd only met the day before. Stopped along the way for a refreshing swim in the pool at the base of a waterfall (see picture).
Honourable mention to volunteering on organic farms (WWOOFing) in Japan.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Apart from my own life perspective and story, I love to cook and will jump at an opportunity to get in the kitchen and share a great meal together.
