Heeey :) My name is Jan and I am part time student and part timer traveller. I love every way of being active and jump from one place in the world to the next one. However, my home is the beautiful city called Cologne (Köln) in Germany. That is where I am currently trying to finish my uni degree in the mayor "sports and performance".
Cologne is an amazing city to live and study in. It offers a variety of things you can do. There is the Old town and the cathedral what kinda makes the city famous, however there are also countless breweries, nice parks that are fun in the evening as well as a ton of awesome clubs and bars. In addition you have the ability to do a ton of outdoor activities around the city since Cologne is the sports capital of Germany.
The thing that really makes cologne special, however, are the people that live here. Crazy, open-minded and funny people who welcome everyone.
When is the best time to come and visit? Well actually, every time of the year works. In the beginning of the year we have Carnival, something that everyone should experience once in their life, spring and summer are my favourite part of the year in cologne, in fall the leaves change color and everything looks beautiful and colourful, and around Christmas the whole city has a lot of little markets all over the place which makes it kinda magical.

If you come to cologne I would like to show you around if I have time and especially show you some of things that are not that touristic. Sightseeing in general is not that interesting in cologne in my opinion. Cologne is a city that you have to experience.

If you are interested in staying at my place I can offer you a small mattress on the floor in a room that we would share. Otherwise I could also sleep on the floor and then you would have a bed for yourself if you are two people visiting. My apartment is really small however.

I am looking forward to meeting new people, hearing exciting stories and giving back the luck that I experience in my travels. If I have time we could spend some time in the parks, do some cool sports, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have travelled a lot on my own and with friends. In both cases I have met a ton of people who where extremely generous and offered a lot of stuff. I feel extremely grateful for all of that and would like to give that back to everyone who is travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kind of music, from mainstream music to EDM to Rock. I actually like to read, however, often find it hard to focus on a book for a longer time than 15 minutes (sitting still is not really my thing, but I am trying to get there). I like a ton of films, don't really know which one is my favourite. I think Bohemian Rapsody, the greatest Showman, Wonder, Into the wild, Lord of the rings, are all really really good movies :)
