About Me
Hi all,
First of all I'm happily married with my lovely wife Mathalie and I'm proud father of 5 awesome (sometimes terrible 😊 ) children from 10 to 19 years old. So I am a happy one with a stable (family) life. You understand from this, that I only use CS to make friends from all over the world and meet interesting (local) people.
We are living in a beautiful house in the nice city of Woerden, relocating in 2023 to old farmers house in the countryside of Woerden, with huge garden, a piece of forest and a rich birdslife, so a paradise!
In daily life I work as an ICT consultant, have my own IT companies and I am also business investor, now starting up activities in Ukraine. I'm a very active person, involved in different types of voluntary work, youth group leader (teenagers, students, young adults), really interested in (young) people around me, who they are, listening to their stories, helping when needed, giving advice, networking, sharing ideas, bringing people and ideas in touch, etcetera.
We try to serve a young christian church in the middle of Ukraine, built up mainly by teenagers, twentiers, by supporting their local ministry and strenghten this local community by setting up business activities for better life conditions and professionalizing their ministry with disabled people. It is amazing to see what they already do in their local municipality.
Of course I very like travelling and meeting other people from other countries and cultures. Last 3 years I travelled around with my family nearly 3 months in total in Eastern Europe, mainly the whole western part of Ukraine, west from the line Kiev - Odessa. In 2015 and 2016 we travelled around 10.000 km in 5 weeks over whole Europe in 10 countries. In 2019 we traveled over 7000km in 4 weeks through Balkan area, Albania, Italy. In 2020 7000km through France, Spain, Portugal to the utmost south-west and back. In 2021 we traveled through many different parts of Italy and in 2022 we traveled again the Balkan region, going now through Croatia, Albania, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary.
All years visiting gorgeous places and we can share many experiences about.
I very like to visit old historical cities, have many on my bucketlist. I love the architecture, art, history, culture, sniffing the atmosphere. I like photography, but also long hikes, biking. Also the mountains are my favorite. I’ve gone many times in the Alps, the Dolomites, also visited Carpathians in both Romania and Ukraine, Krkonoše mountains in Czech last summer. The beautiful Tatra in Slowakia and Poland I only viewed out of my car, but one day I will also be there. They are on my bucketlist!
How I am as a person? I’m an open, spontaneous and very communicative person, easily to access, always have a smile on my face, that comes from my inner side. I think this is the good opening of a new contact and invites people to be nice and open also. I like when you have the same! I can challenge you, like to inspire (young) people around me and be inspired by them. I have a stable personality, can handle stress very good and can easily adapt to sudden changes.
I’m interested in the person and stories of people that come on my way, their vision, their dreams and ideas about the world. I can easily adapt my plans if things go in another way, I like sudden surprises.
I’m also very talkative, as you can see from this long, long story 😊 and can talk with you about many different subjects. I think silent moments will be rare. I like good conversations, humour and sharp discussions on the edge.
I drink many coffee, very like a good wine or beer, but not too much, like tasty food, and good restaurants. I like to try local food. So you can always surprise me by your local favorites!
I'm christian. That means that God is the basic of my life. That's completely life changing, giving me a deep peace and joy in my heart, but also inpires me to follow Him and give love to other people that have less. When you have received much, you then also have responsibility what to do with it.
That’s enough for now to know me a little bit to decide if you are interested to get me know. I’m now interested in who you are and I start listening to your story. So start to tell what you are busy with, your opinions, dreams, stories and I will listen…
See you soon!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I very like new challenges, spontaneous actions and meeting new people you normally not meet. That’s why I’m fond of sharing platforms as Couchsurfing, BlaBlaCar, etc. “Sharing is multiplying”, is my principle. Meeting local people is the best way to see the best things around and experience the right feeling of the country.
I have much experience with BlaBlaCar, which also gives the opportunity of meeting many interesting people, students, travellers from all over the world. On Couchsurfing I hope to have the same experiences as with BlaBlaCar.
If it is possible in my family I can receive you, but it will not always be possible. So request and then we can see. Thinking about what the Bible learns me about hospitality and inspires me to do: “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares” (Hebrews 13,2)
I new on CS, so still have no references now, but you can check my publicly available profiles:

Music, Movies, and Books
Classical music, piano, flute, violin, cello, oboe and many other instruments. I try to listen every year Matthaus Passion and Messiah, so deep and beautiful music, but there are so many other. Books: most literature, e.g. C.S. Lewis, Chaim Potok, Umberto Eco, many Dutch and English literature, some Russian, and of course Bible. And I have very broad interests in many subjects.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've done many. I have become father of 5, most people find it amazing, or that I started as entrepreneur. Big travels with my family. Many nice things and special experiences on travels. You can all ask. But: amazing things don't need to be extraordinarily. Enjoy yourself and be surprised by little things in your life. If you look deeper, many normal things in your life are already extraordinarily.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation, positive vibes, typical Dutch products I can take with me to share with you, my open attitude, my stories, listening to your stories and opinions.
