About Me

Dropped out of University (Computer Science) because I wanted to do something more creative. I moved to Paris last August, now I'm kinda drifting around. I'd love to travel around - no precise idea how and where, but I'm going to do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to see the world (how unoriginal ;-)). But I also want to experience the point of view of other people, learn new things, fall down, get back up again and maybe make someones life a little better with what I've learned.

Also, my first few Couchsurfing experiences have taught me that I see a place very differently when staying with locals as opposed to a Hostel or Hotel. It's just lovely to have someone you never met before lead you into a back alley, past two rather large bouncers, down a graffitied staircase into a cobwebbed bar to have the most amazing time I ever had on a trip.

Interests

Photography is the one thing I spend an unhealthy amount of time obsessing over. I love taking portraits as a wonderful and unique way of getting to know someone.
When I'm not behind the camera, I enjoy cooking something I invented on the fly. I also dabble in graphic design and occasionally, I write some fiction.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to anything between Rap and Classical music, though I really like Indie or classic Rock.
Any movie by David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky, Chris Nolan or Quentin Tarantino I have seen made it into my top 10 (maybe top 20 by now). When I'm not in the mood for brain-twisting, a decent action movie will do.
I do much too little reading to make any valid statement about that here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Paris while only speaking very rudimentary French. Well, since I am still not speaking fluent French, that is probably more foolish than amazing ;D.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: photography (I *mostly* know my stuff here) or cooking (which I make up as I go). I might also be able to teach you basic programming and photoshopping. Or, of course, if you want to learn German, I can provide some practice.

Learn: anything where I can spend way too much attention to detail.

Share: Photographs, my opinion if you ask me about it, my lengthy opinion if you don't stop me and I'd love to cook something for you (especially if there's a market nearby that has fresh produce). Of course I'm always interested in trading stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to take your photo for the most kickass profile picture you have had to date (you're free to disagree, of course ;-)), just for kicks or if you happen to need an image to put on your application at the time.

Also, I think it's a nice thing to cook for ones host, so if at all possible, I'll gladly do that and introduce you to some Bavarian or French cuisine (not exactly health-food, but good for the soul :D).
