About Me

I am student of 2nd Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. I have found love in travelling, it is one of the few things I am not afraid to spend my money on. You can always find open and nice people on the road. I think it is important to push your boundaries, it is the only way to better yourself. Travelling is one of the means to do it. You encounter a lot of different people and different situations, it takes you out of your comfort zone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to Couchsurfing. I joined it because I wanted to meet new people on my trip in the USA. I really like the idea that this site can bring together travelers from around the world. That is the breathtaking side of the internet : it can bring people together. From now on I want to also offer my couch. I am very keen to show you around Prague.

Interests

I love music. I play guitar in a band called Phoenix Suicide, we are local post-rock band from Prague. I like to play with the guitar sound. I use a lot of effects such as reverb, delay or fuzz. Now I try to compose and implement electronic sound to our music. I am working in FL studio (very basic level I think) Besides post-rock I am trying to produce electronic music which would sound more "alive" rather than digital.

I am fascinated by human brain and especially with the counciousness. I am thinking about becoming psychiatrist after my graduation. One day I would like to use my medical knowledge to cure mental illnesses, I am interested in nonconvetional ways of treatment such as use of psychedelics to treat depression, PTSD or addiction. I think we are on edge of mental health crisis, more and more people are getting depressed and many people don't understand that these people are not "crazy" they just need proper help.

Other interests besides music and science:

Hiking, cooking, watching good movies, reading, practising yoga, working out, running, philosophical talks, casual talks, spending time in nature, climbing the hills and enjoying the views, videogames, living in Prague

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I think I have broad taste in music and I am open to different music styles. My favorites are post-rock, hardcore, rap, indie rock and electromusic. Some bands I like: Enter Shikari, Foals, God Is An Astronaut, Rage Against The Machine, Death Cub For A Cutie, The National, MSTRKRFT, Underoath, Polar, The Subways, Sparta, Rise Against, Frittenbude, Deadmau5, This Will Destroy You, Parkway Drive, And So I Watch You From Afar, Explosions In The Sky, F.O.O.L

MOVIES
There are tons of good films, so it is hard to point something out, but I will try name some of my favourites: FIGHT CLUB! Sunshine, Donnie Darko, Clerks, The Hunt, 12 Monkeys, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Filth, Ex Drummer, Wolf Of The Wall Street

SERIES
Game of Thrones, True Detective

BOOKS
Almost everything from Chuck Palahniuk with Choke and Survivor as my favorites - such a great commentary on today's society.
Scifi - Dune, Hyperion, Foundation
Sometimes I like to read philosophical books - understandable and very good read is Existencialism is Humanism from Sartre. I also like The Stranger from Camus, it is more of a novel but it has a lot of philosophic concepts in it. I really like existencialism, it is all about self-determination and about taking responsibility for your actions.
