About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to experience quiet awe as frequently as possible.

COUCH SITUATION

My boyfriend and I just got an awesome big couch for our apartment, but recently it's been occupied by a friend who doesn't have a home right now. I'm interested in hosting once she's back on her feet :)

ABOUT ME

I have a lot of different hobbies, including guitar, painting, cooking, origami, singing, hiking, climbing, adventuring, eating new/exciting foods. I think it's because I get bored easily, and I have a certain restlessness that I can't suppress. Also, I find it difficult to sustain small-talk conversations, so having lots of hobbies gives me something to talk about.

PHILOSOPHY

Leisure is not a waste. It's what gives life value and richness. For most people, work is just that, work; a (hopefully) small nuisance we deal with so that we have the means to enjoy the things we actually love. We are all defined by what we do when we are not working. If you define yourself by your work, you're probably extremely boring, unless your work is exceptional -- which is very rarely the case, if we're completely honest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm interested in Couchsurfing because I think it's the best way of getting a genuine experience of places. I'd also like to host Couchsurfers at some point. I live in a small apartment with my boyfriend, so it might be a little cramped, but I'm sure we could work something out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had a wonderfully positive experience with a Couchsurfer host in Paris, France. I can only hope my future experiences will be equally positive.

Interests

I have all sorts of interests (see above) and I'm game for most anything! Don't let my shy exterior fool you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Like most people, I haven't done anything "amazing". I've done a lot of interesting, exciting, scary, intense, funny etc. things, but nothing worth pointing out singularly as "amazing". If you haven't risked your own life to save someone, or done something else on that level, you haven't done anything truly amazing either. Can you tell that I don't like this question? How is it possible to tell anything about a person by ONE thing they've done in their life?

Teach, Learn, Share

- Biology, genetics in particular, and the history of agriculture. Many questions require specific knowledge, but I could probably give you a good guess as to the answer.

- Amateur guitar
I can teach the basics only, like some chords, the pentatonic scale, and some fingerpicking songs

- Origami

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, clean, and hold intelligent conversations. My goal is always to leave a place as if I were an a-material ghost, i.e. I won't leave a mess.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Netherlands

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Philippines, United States
