My name is Jana - originally from Germany and recently graduated from my Bachelor of Science in Psychology - I am currently on a trip through North America together with my boyfriend Jan. During the past year we have travelled through 6 provinceves of Canada and 3 states in the USA - hopefully there is many more to come.

We spend a longer period of time in Northern B.C. over the summertime and then another longer period of time skiing/boarding at Big White Ski Resort over the winter time.

We both believe that people and our connection with them is what makes our lives better and brighter every day. We are trying to learn something new every day. Practicing Happiness along the way. Living the good life <3

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I always love meeting new people and traveling for me always means getting to know a new culture. I think staying with "locals" is the nicest way to do that.

If weather and outdoor location permits Jan and I try to camp as much as possible and mainly sleep in our car "Tony". If that is not the case, we are going for longer periods of time or are in a city we also try to stay with "locals", friends and family as much as possible and make more human connections along the way. We have tried out hostels, hotels, airBnB...you name it! We have found that especially the more commercial options just don't really do the trick for us. We miss experiencing places apart from the typical tourist attractions and actually connecting with real people about more than just the money and business we bring them. The best trips we have had so far were when we stayed with family/friends or friends of our friends.

After all, nothing else makes a trip as special/memorable as the connection with the people you meet along the way. So currently Jan and I a looking to try out Couchsurfing to hopefully make new friends along the way :)

Intereses

I love to travel and socialize with friends. I love a good conversation over a really good cup of coffee (or the occassional chai latte...), going for a nice meal out - or baking/cooking some yummy - and mostly vegetarian - meal at home.

I also enjoy music, books, movies. Netflix can become an addiction on really grey/foggy days...

However, especially if the sun is out, I am quite active and love to explore new cities, go hiking or on the occasional jogging run. When in the city its those kind of quirky and unique neighborhoods that fascinate me most. I also try to have my camera with me as much as possible and try to capture all the surprises along the way.

During our travels through Canada, my boyfriend Jan and I really learned to appreciate all kinds of outdoor activities. Wether it is a nice bike ride, a hike with a good view, kayaking or just a quick stroll through the neighborhood - nothing feels as good as getting some fresh air and seeing as much as possible of this beautiful earth we call home!

Música, películas y libros

I like all kinds of music - I'm always happy to discover new artists. That being said anything from City and Colour, Edward Sharpie and the Magnetic Zeros as well as the new Ed Sheeran Album on the top of my playlist right now....

My favorite movie would probably be "Pünktchen und Anton" (it's a kids movie from Germany). I am obsessed with the show Homeland as well as Shutter Island - the book and the movie!

And of course HARRY POTTER.

Left everything behind in Germany to go on a one year adventure throughout Canada with my boyfriend - and loving it so far! In fact, we both enjoyed it so much that even thou a year has passed already we decided to extend our stay even further :)
