About Me

I am a student from Prague, Czech Republic. I have a big family, tree sisters and three brothers, and am the youngest one. I have been always interested in travelling, mountain climbing, sports and different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travelling is one of my passions. From a very early age I attended a tourist club and later I became one of the leaders there so I was preparing some free time activities for children. Although I was there as a leader just for a few years, I learnt my lesson and the values we tried to pass to children stayed with me and one of them was love for nature. That is how I probably started to love mountains or maybe I was simply born with this passion. I always feel safe and peaceful there and I adore the challenge, the mountains give me. At first, I travelled mostly to mountains but at some point it has changed and I found something irresistible in travelling in general and I started travelling by hitchhiking. It is always great to meet some people from different countries and so get to know their culture first hand. I believe the less money we have on our way, the more enjoyment we get and the more unforgettable experience it is. And so far, I have never regret it. That is why I am here, I just simply want to get to know you and live through some new unforgettable experiences.

Interests

As I have already mentioned I love travelling, meeting new people and getting to know new cultures. In addition, I like reading. I read classical literature, travel books, of course, and a lot autobiographies, especially from Holocaust era and some other hard points of our history or present. I also like sports, especially climbing, beach volleyball, swimming and running. I am interested in global conflicts, human rights and their compliance in the world, that is why I follow Amnesty International and Doctors Without Borders (originally Médecins Sans Frontières). And at last, but not the least, I am interested in new technologies and computer science as it is the field I study.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to so many kinds of music, simplified I listen to any music which just sounds good to me during that moment. It always depends on my mood. From movies of my home country I really like Loners (originally Samotáři), it is one of the cult movies in my country and even now after many years I have seen it for the first time it still puts smile on my face. There are many movies I like from international releases but right now it comes to my mind just Into the Wild which is absolutely breathtaking story for me and The Dark Knight, that I really like for some reason. Of course, there are many films that are brilliant as Fight Club, American Beauty, The Usual Suspects, The Sixth Sense, The Silence of the Lambs, Untouchables (originally Intouchables), The Shawshank Redemption, Enemy of the State, Seven, The Game, Matrix etc.
My favourite series and dear to my heart is Friends but I know it by heart so I have to rotate the series I watch but this will always be number one for me. I also really like Mash, The Big Bang Theory, Scrubs, HIMYM, ... wow, I should not watch movies and series so much :D There are also many books which really affected me but very shortly I like 1984 by George Orwell which I found ingenious. But I still remember those days I was reading Harry Potter series under the blanket during nights or under the desk at school and how I was eagerly awaiting a new book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Several unbelievable amazing hitchhiking trips in Europe.
I hiked more than 500 miles of the California section of the PCT in 2017.
And I am still working on it... ;)
