About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet nice people in London and maybe find a companion for the 2nd concert of Machine Head at Roundhouse :)
ABOUT ME
Northern German chick having lived in Barcelona for four years (and a little in Paris and London, for five months in Dublin and for one semester in Ankara), eager to get to know new people and places - I was told that I am not a typical German for many reasons, one of them being a lack of diplomatic skills and my trying to be on time (which works very good in professional life, less well in private)...
PHILOSOPHY
I would love to make the world a better place - have the whole in mind and change what I can in my environment ...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Actually, I love the idea behind Couchsurfing - as a girl it was supposed to be rather tricky, but I decided to give it a try myself after I heard about positive experiences from friends...my signing up in 2011/2 was a last minute thing for an equally last minute lack of accommodation in Brussels, which was beautifully solved by Mark - very friendly and lovely fellow human!
Then we moved to our own place, which is still in a major state of renovation. Accordingly, I refrained from offering accommodation. Now (after so many years), we finally managed to finish one room to make it habitable and suitable for offering it to persons which one does not know yet :)
So: I finally hope to be able to really enrich the community - and to seize from other people's experiences as due to a full-time job, I cannot travel as much as I would love to ...
Please do not hesitate to contact me for accommodation requests also last minute - see Harbour Birthday in Hamburg etc.
Interests
I love music (especially metal - my marriage is the ultimate unity of old school and new school :) ), but am quite open to other styles. Meeting people and getting to know more about different cultures and personalities is awesome as well - and I love spending time with my husband, of course. I also started beekeeping, which makes a lovely and rewarding hobby (especially rewarding for breakfast), I enjoy getting in touch with different people - I recently took up a small job as a bartender - and that is really fun :) Basically, the variety of human beings and nature never ceases to amaze me.

Music, Movies, and Books
All of this is constantly evolving - one thing that remained is my love for Machine Head - the band that I have known and loved for more than half of my life (despite a translation of a verse by Disturbed on our wedding bands).
So, the currently favourite bands are Machine Head, Skindred, Of Mice & Men, Ignite, Prong and fun stuff like Bongo Botrako, La Pegatina, Heymoon Shaker, Rosario Smowing, ...
Everything by A. A. Attanasio, a little bit by Paulo Cuelho and Anne Rice (the Witch Trilogy was awesome), Dead until Dark, books by Cecilia Ahern and Janet Evanovich (I have to admit it ;) ), I love criminal stories and fun stuff ... and I am completely and utterly in love with Marc Uwe Kling's cangaroo!
Movies are rather something special, I love the Kevin Smith movies (especially the first ones...Jay and Silent Bob rock!), Amélie and The Crow as well as Goodbye Lenin, but I am addicted to series (the all-time classic Remington Steele as well as Life and Pushing Daisies (all good things come to an end ...), Lucifer, but also cabaret shows (the German political landscape can be fun if presented nicely - but sometimes the reality is really hard to laugh at and becomes choking instead).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Marrying - at least that is what amazed most people around me at the time :)
Being diagnosed with cancer and smiling despite that fact
Taking up bartending for the fun of it
Going to different places to see my favourite bands
... I guess that nothing really comes from the thing itself but rather from how one experiences it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am currently learning Portuguese and Esperanto (the latter is an old favourite and somehow it takes ages ...), I can teach the languages I know as well as economics and I can normally come up with quite some fun facts on almost any topic - useless knowledge has a way of staying in my brain ;)
What I Can Share with Hosts
A laugh, a good time, stories, music and a place to stay when they happen to come to my area.
Countries I’ve Lived In
Belgium, England, France, Ireland, Spain
