Overview
About Me
Hi there, I'm a freelance photographer and writer from the lovely village of Wilderness in South Africa. Born in Brazil, but also lived in the UK and in Europe growing up. I guess it's because of this rather nomadic background I love travel - even if that only means finding a new place or perspective close to home. This is what I enjoyed about studying photography and journalism, being forced to get out of my comfort zone. Well, now that I've graduated I have been doing a lot of that, and currently taking the opportunity to travel again.
Other things about me, I'm bookish, with many different interests are arts/ culture/ politics / sustainable living. Creative, I have always enjoyed making things, art, crafts, theatre, poetry. I have been told I'm a good cook. Helpful, polite and always interested in hearing your story.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've had the most wonderful experiences so far, keen to keep going with this exceptional platform. Also where I live in Wilderness, South Africa is the smallest of small towns so would be nice to host and see some new faces in the village.

Music, Movies, and Books
I recently read and really enjoyed the books 'Spring' and 'Autumn' by Ali Smith, need to read 'Winter' next.
If I ever have the time I enjoy reading literary journals, short fiction from the New Yorker, and Maria Popova's Brain Pickings blog.
Everything by Tolkien, also a fan of Katherine Mansfield and Virginia Woolf, Olive Schreiner, Thomas Hardy, Terry Pratchett, George Orwell, John Berger, Arundhati Roy.
Poets, the usual suspects - Robert Frost, Philip Larkin, TS Eliot, EE Cummings, Stevie Smith, my friend Lindi-Ann Hewitt-Coleman and the many brilliant micro-poets of Twitter
Comedy: Trevor Noah (of course), I like to go to comedy clubs if I get a chance.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just spent the most wonderful three months travelling in Europe, many thanks to the all hosts who supported me along the way.
A long walk/pilgrimage from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town with great friends from the Indigenous Liberation Walk, find out more here: https://www.facebook.com/Indigenous-Liberation-Walk-Inheemse-Bevrydings-Staptog-473036652759221/
