About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I ‘couchsurfed’ years ago before it was invented, so I’d like to give back. I have already hosted a few people here that I gave lifts to last summer. Love meeting people from different cultures.

Interests

Music of all kinds, nature, walking, learning new things, languages, tiny house living, horses, exploring, local history, hanging out with friends playing music, craft beer, living life to the full.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love music, especially Irish and Scottish trad, but also folk, world, classic, jazz, blues; ok most music! :) I play the Irish whistle and a little bit of guitar/uke. I like singing too. Don’t mind a good movie but prefer live gigs or theatre. I don’t have a TV or a microwave... I’ve 90% ditched FB so I have more time to read... anything that takes my fancy as long as it is well written and absorbing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mustered cattle on horseback and worked for six months on a cattle station in Queensland Australia, hitched all the way round New Zealand, worked grooming horses in an army camp in Athens and as the cook on a trawler in Crete. (It was hard to pick one!)

Teach, Learn, Share

Would like to share travel stories, practice my languages and learn some tunes and customs from your culture. I can teach you basic tin whistle and help you brush up on your English grammar.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, music, home cooking, a chilled, quiet place to stay... If you are here on the right night, you can join me for an evening of Traditional Scottish/Irish music in a local pub, or a ceilidh. (Scottish dancing and music). The cottage and the village are very quiet, so if you want to chillout that’s ok too... The small town of Nairn and the beach are 10 minutes away by car or bus, it would be about 45 minutes to walk it. There are buses to Inverness, Aberdeen, Elgin every half hour or so from 6am to 11pm and it’s half an hour by bus to Inverness airport.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, San Marino, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State, Wales
