About Me
Je suis francophone de St-Boniface, Winnipeg, Canada. I am francophone from St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Canada. I love my city and love to share it with others. When people visit, I'm always ready to give tours since I used to be a tour guide of Old St. Boniface.
Since a young age, I've had to opportunity to travel to many parts of world and want to keep travelling to discover more. I'm always up for an adventure. I've travelled for work, school, "solidarity/exposure tours" and leisure. Some of my most recent "solidarity/exposure tours" include travelling to Brazil for the Peoples' Summit at Rio+20 and to El Salvador to learn from local communities about their struggles and projects to overcome injustice. My preferred way to travel is with a backpack and a free spirit - I go where wind blows... where the next opportunity arises. Though I like visiting some tourist attractions, I much prefer getting to know the people, the food, the "real" places of the world.
I work as an animator (no, not a cartoon animator but facilitator-type) for Development and Peace, a social justice and international development organisation.
In my spare time, I help immigrant/refugee families integrate into our community. I'm also part of a group of young adults who are working towards having a bike cooperative in our neighbourhood. I enjoy gardening.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have stayed in hostels, bed&breakfasts, motels, hotels, resorts, as well as host families. I've also done some house-sitting. Last year, Philippe and I did couchsurfing across Turkey and Georgia and it was the best experience of our lives! Honestly, couchsurfing is amazing because you get to meet great people - it's the people that make it all worth while! And then you get to meet the locals and intergrate yourself in their world and find out about the local spots. It's the way to go!
