CURRENT MISSION
I want to see and do it all :)
ABOUT ME
Hi I'm Janelle! I'm a pretty easy going girl who is full of adventure. I'm usually up for anything and most of the time I don't hesitate to say "yes!" to some kind of crazy idea :)
I love to travel, I spend quite a bit of time researching the world and all of it's wonderful places! I haven't come across a country yet that I haven't wanted to visit. I truly believe there is something positive and beautiful in every place, you just have to look on the bright side!
I love exploring new places and cultures from around the world. There's nothing better than going somewhere and being fully immersed and sometimes even shocked by the way others go about their day to day lives!
I used to be an extremely introverted person, not going out or meeting new people or exploring new things.. how boring! That's when I realized that's not how I wanted to live my life. I decided to take a 6 month trip when I was 19 and within 20 days I was packed up and moved to Australia! It sounds cliche but that trip really did change me. Nothing like throwing yourself into the unknown with no friends or family to break you out of your shell!
My current goal is that in the next few years I would like to take off on a long term round the world trip. I'm at the stage in my life where I'm deciding I would rather explore than plant roots anywhere. The more I research and explore this beautiful world, the more my bucket list and desire for travel truly expands.
Like my Mission says : I want to see and do it all :)
PHILOSOPHY
One of my favorite quotes is "The moment people say you've changed; you haven't. You've just stopped living 'your' life 'their' way.
I kind of live by this now. For so long I put off things I wanted to do because people didn't approve or they had a different point of view then I did. Well not anymore! I'm starting to do what makes me happy and if there's people around me that support that they're more than welcome to stay in my life, if not see ya! Life is too short to care what others think about you or what you're doing. If you're happy doing what you're doing then great! There are so many other like minded people out there you just have to go and find them :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't done too much with CS yet, but I'm really looking forward to one day actually getting the chance to surf some couches! Also if more events start coming up in my city I would love to attend!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first big CouchSurfing experience was a BBQ my roommate and I threw while we were living in Melbourne. We didn't think anyone would show up and it turned out we had over 40 CouchSurfers attend! We shared a lot of laughs with a lot of different people! I also learned that you don't need to speak the same language to get along, drinking games are a universal language, haha!
I've also done a few CS nights on the town, a pizza night and a trip to the Great Ocean Road!
The diverse nature of CouchSurfing will never leave you bored :)
Interests
Travel! I think that's a fairly common denominator among CouchSurfers! We are so lucky in today's day and age to have the opportunity to have means to readily travel; I for one definitely love to take advantage of this.
Music is a biggie, I'm open to everything, though I usually find myself listening to Alternative Rock or Country.
Even though I like living life in the fast lane I realize there are times I need to rein it in and just veg out.
