About Me

I am a mother of two daughters living in the Westport of Ireland the last five years. I work part time as an English Language Tutor and for the last two summer seasons have managed the ticket office at Roonagh Pier for the island ferry. I enjoy living on the Atlantic coast because it is very beautiful and I love the landscape, mountains and sea, the dramatic weather changes and stunning sunsets.
In previous years I have done quite a bit of travelling. In 2004 travelling to Thailand, Australia and New Zealand with my older daughter who was then 3. I went back to New Zealand in 2007 with my daughter to work for a year. I have also travelled in Norway, a little in Poland, Spain and France.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Now that my second daughter is 8 years old, I am thinking of venturing forth a lot more now to visit new places/places previously visited, as life has been more 'at home' in the last few years. I also want the opportunity for my daughters to meet people from where we are visiting and travelling to as I think it is great education for them. Also, I would like to host members who want to come to the beautiful area that we live in.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music is ... various artists and genres. Films - I just watched 'The Shape of Water' and loved it. I am currently reading anything I can written by William Trevor. I like Gerard Donovan, Claire Moran as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Perhaps an amazing thing that happened to me is in 2004 I left the small Thai island I was staying on for a couple of months on a gut feeling. I changed my ticket to Australia and got the last 2 seats available for the following day and the tragic Tsunami occurred 2 days later. I often think that travelling keeps us in the moment and makes us spontaneous.
