ABOUT ME

Freelance editor. Wellesley College, Art History, B.A. 1986. MoMA, 1988-2005 in various capacities. Grew up in Geneva NY, managed a SCUBA store in San Diego in the 70s, went to college in the 80s, then came to NYC.

PHILOSOPHY

Corny as it may sound, Do Unto Others... still works like a charm.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting! I love showing off NYC and helping to make the experience a good one by providing a safe place to come home to at night, maps, guidebooks, companionship, discounts, and insider tips.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience as a guest was a 3-week trip to Belgium with a short stay in Koln. I had the most amazing hosts; their hospitality was off the charts.

Interests

I like the outdoors, the arts and sciences, history, cooking and food, and traveling, of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dr. Strangelove, Sunset Boulevard, Lawrence of Arabia, Kill Bill, anything Billy Wilder, Swimming to Cambodia, In Bruges. Too many European to mention, but no Bergman, please.

Teach, Learn, Share

You probably have plenty to do in NYC without my butting in, but I love to show off the views from my area and drives up the Hudson if you have time.
Since most couchsurfers are on a tight budget, I enjoy sharing ticket discounts, restaurant coupons, and advice on what to do cheap or free.
Many foreign visitors have requested "American Thanksgiving dinner" and I am always happy to cook it if we have time.
FYI, if you fly into Newark, I can pick you up at the airport.
I hope you will tell me things about your home country and culture or places you have traveled to that I might not know or find in guidebooks.
