About Me
Hi! My name is Janette, my friends call me by my middle name "Aracely". I'm 27, was born and raised in LA and moved to Sydney, Australia November 2015.
Why?
Because nothing makes me happier than traveling and unfortunately life in the US didn't provide me with the time to travel I wanted. I always met Australian's abroad and wished I could trade places with them. One day, I asked myself "why not?", I couldn't think of a good reason, so I just quit my job made the move and took off. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of my friends recommended it to me. She said that she made life-long friends through it, so I have my fingers crossed for that same experience. I love meeting new people and learning all about their stories! Its one of my favorite parts of traveling.
Interests
Animals + Food + Travel are my top 3
I love learning about different cultures and customs, so anything that is foreign to me is an automatic interest :)
- traveling
Music, Movies, and Books
Book: Guns, Germs, and Steel
Music: I like all types of music. Too hard to select one genre.
Movies: Same response as music, but I think my favorite genre is comedy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Great white shark diving in South Africa
Spontaneously move out of the continent
Teach, Learn, Share
What I love most about meeting other travelers is exchanging stories of the different countries we've traveled to and our perspectives on them.
I think the two most beneficial things about travel for me in particular have been the fact that I consistently experience new things and secondly, listening. I think some of the things you're able to learn from others simply by sitting back and listening can be invaluable.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My favorite thing besides travel is digital marketing, so anything that involved marketing, PR, business, and the online space is such a fun topic to discuss.
I studied Linguistics, so anything to do with the science behind language acquisition and the effect of language on cultures.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Denmark, El Salvador, Honduras, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom
