About Me

Currently based in Melbourne, I grew up on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Curious about most things I haven't experienced before - new people, places, language, culture. I love being in nature but also enjoy immersing myself in a new city to experience the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of local life.

I'm passionate about social justice, humanitarian issues and environmental causes and have a background in the NGO sector. Also love dance, singing and language learning, although I'm sad to admit I don't engage in these activities as much as I'd like!

In my 'everyday life' at home, I enjoy cooking, practicing yoga, walking in nature, going for drives to places I haven't been and catching up with friends over a coffee or drink. I'm very interested in learning about spiritual and mental wellbeing, human relationships and how our current patterns of behaviour are conditioned by our upbringing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To me, it just makes sense. These days, especially in the western world, everything is a paid service. I love the idea of recreating that sense of community and if you have something you can offer to another human being to help them on their way (without inconveniencing yourself), then why not?
It’s also a great way to get to know what life is like in a place you’ve never lived before and you can meet some incredible, inspiring people. Ihave very fond memories of those I have stayed with in places far far away from where I grew up.

I’m not in a position to host people right now but I am looking forward to welcoming other curious beings into my home as soon as I’m settled in my own place (soon!) and showing them around Melbourne if they so wish.

Interests

As mentioned above I want to re-engage with the interests that I have neglected while pursuing a career -dance, singing, language learning and sketching- and I'm hoping to connect with hosts who are keen to introduce me to the local dance culture, show me how to whip up a traditional dish, and teach me some conversational basics in their language.

I'd also really like to try my hand at sculpting/ceramics as I haven't tried it since my school days and think it would be a great way to access more of my creative side.
