About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I need to finish my PhD. It's on the environment and how it affects psychiatric health.
ABOUT ME
I love telling stories and hearing about travels. Whenever you travel, you can re-encarnate in every new street corner, every new town, every new country. I started writing up my own stories, but I haven't finished. I'm 400 pages in, and I've only covered two years (ah! but what wonderful years!). The details can only be told - but if it's ever happened to anyone, it's happened to me.
I was watching a movie "touching the Void" with my wife, and I commented that it was such a full-on story, I don't know whether I could have succeeded given similar circumstances. She reminded me that my own stories are no less extreme. She was, as always, right.
My wife - Bem Le Hunte, is the most amazing human on Earth. She's also an amazing writer. She has written three novels and a PhD. Look her up (bemlehunte.com). Her books have been published far and wide. Together we have three boys. The oldest is 16, the middlest 13 and the youngest only 5. All are fabulous and can do no wrong by me.
I myself am an architect, artist and, believe it or not, a neuroscientist. The last bit was an accident - a product of my PhD. I needed to know how architecture affects us on a neurological level.
PHILOSOPHY
This is a really hard question for me to answer with conviction because it's just so big.
One thing that's important is that freedom is something that you cannot earn, or be given. It's something you have to snatch for yourself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We regularly host visitors. Mostly from overseas. People we pick up hitch-hiking, friends of friends. Anyone who looks interesting. Sometimes we chuck parties in their honour.
People may want to consider coming to stay in the tree-house I'm building on a lake overlooking the Pacific. It's very cool - and not entirely finished (anyone good with a hammer?) You are guaranteed to see possums and kangaroos there. If you're lucky, you'll also spot rarer life; potaroos, silky black cockatoos, southern right whales, dolphins and once I even saw a family of white dingoes.
I'm a seasoned traveler and guest too. (I know just how to do it.) And I'm an awesome cook and happy to take over any kitchen.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Believe it or not, I've never couch surfed. I've bummed my way around the world and helped hundreds of others do the same. I've stayed in places so bizarre, that people have difficulty acknowledging they exist. With tribes-people in Papua New Guinea and Africa, with European nobility, with someone who was on the bus with Ken Ceasey (is that how it's spelled?), with a mystic in the Caribbean... but this formal thing is new to me. Please show me how!
I'm not yet vouched for (I haven't received the post card) but if you want to vouch for my identity, look up my work on the internet in journals called "Facilities- 2010, 28(3/4), 100-117" and "Medical Hypotheses - 2011,78, 7-10" they include my work address.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh yeah! But these are stories I cannot do justice to in this format. Let's talk.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a very experienced (and many say good) tarot card reader. If you want me to bring my cards, just ask. I don't tell the future (that's too easy) I tell the past and the present!
At the moment I'm looking to travel to the USA to deliver a talk on neuroscience and architecture. How architecture affects the minds we live in.
I've been doing a lot of research into psychosis recently and have had a swathe of things published on the subject.
I know a lot and have taught a lot - and about a very wide range of subjects. To me the important thing is that it has to be universal to be interesting.
