About Me

Hi! I'm a graduate student in the US, studying Clinical Psychology in the Existential-Humanistic tradition. I am also a Shambhala Buddhist. I love people, hanging out in cafe's, long thoughtful conversations, and getting surprised by the spontaneous and curious mishaps of life. I love architecture and geography, and culture, and I'm generally interested in understanding the history of human civilization as a way of understanding what it means to be human.

It says here that I haven’t couchsurfer before but I have, and also hosted, just under a different profile that I lost.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was traveling in Europe for 3 weeks before doing a meditation program in France, back in 2018.
I love meeting people.
Actually, I was on couchsurfing since 2007, but I lost the email and password to that account, so I'm starting over again!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love music from around the world. My favorites might be Cesaria Evora, Loreena McKennitt, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchel, Regina Spektor, Andrew Bird, Rokia Traore, etcetc

Books (mostly psychological & psychospiritual): The Myth of Freedom by Chogyam Trungpa (everything by him, actually!), The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram by Sandra Maitri, Nature's Metropolis by William Cronin, The Psychology of CG Jung by Jolande Jacobi, etcetc.
I read a lot of academic articles on psychology - too numerous to list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped my mom! My mother was going to have to sell the house that she had lived in for many years (she had lost her retirement in the stock market crash), so I dropped my life in NYC and moved to Portland to help her renovate her house to rent out rooms so that she wouldn't have to sell it, and also to create a community of people around her. It's now 4 years later and the community is a success and my mom gets to keep her house. :)

I hope you find me warm, thoughtful, conscientious, tidy, and as little of an imposition as possible. :)
My mother has lots of fragile antiques, so I am very careful about taking care of furniture, etc.
