Hey there! I'm Janin and I am currently taking a gap year to travel and gain more experience before starting to study psychology. I live in Chemnitz, which is a city in the eastern part of Germany. Next to work and coaching a art club I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as going to museums, partying through the night and philosophize about life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my close friends introduced me to this platform during our trip in the Balkan and I loved the concept of it. Couchsurfing gives us travelers the opportunity to meet lots of new people and form friendships as well as genuinely getting to know a city. I've learned that, there is great difference between exploring a city via google references and instagram posts and having someone who lives there show you around. And most of all it is a win-win situation. As a traveler I get the chance to meet new people who share interesting stories and vice versa.

Interests

As I am very easy to be stoked my interests have no limit. I am always open to learn new things.
In my daily life I am close to art and painting (I already sold some painted vinyls, we can paint some together as well), good films and food, swimming and biking, hanging out with friends and partying with them as well. I also enjoy myself at concerts a lot and love some cute, old cinemas. Some things I can't live without are definitely my analog camera and my canon. The love for Photography runs in the family and I can't turn it off.

Books: I am a fool for some classics e. g. The catcher in the rye and the secret garden but lately I mostly read psychological-issued books. The last one I read explained the value of short stories during a psychological therapy and it's meanings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the most amazing 5 weeks in Ulcinj, Montenegro. I visited one of my close friends, who is doing a volunteering year there. We used the time to travel to Albania, Kosovo, Serbia and Northern Macedonia (thanks to couchsurfing) and I had the chance to meet a lot of inspiring new people. Thanks to those 5 weeks I could grow mentally and expand my horizons. I also found my love for food, new cultures and their histories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking and baking and most certainly have mastered the recipe for a lemon pound cake. If you like, we can bake or cook together!
As I am very interested in Psychology, I would always enjoy some deep talks at day and night (preferably with a glass of wine).
