Music, Movies, and Books

Oww.. is there a character limit here? :)

Let's start with books. I'm pretty much of a bookworm.
Some of my favorite authors that come to my mind are Albert Camus, Milan Kundera, Haruki Murakami, Neil Gaiman, Herman Hesse, Ian McEwan, Tom Robbins, George Orwell, Jack Kerouac, Paul Auster, Nick Hornby..
And as for books.. Jose Saramago's Blindness, Huxley's Brave New World, Hvite Niggere by Ingvar Ambjornsen.. Hmm.. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for sure. Ah, Good Omens! Brilliant book! Recently I read, Generation X by Douglas Coupland, brilliant! I now have a mission of reading all of his books! (speaking of missions.. I would sound too nerdy if I wrote this up there, right?)

Movies next.. Looks like I like magic realism in movies, as in Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind (Charlie Kaufman write it, me like it), Brazil (and all other Terry Gilliam movies), Arizona Dream etc.
Movies about music; High Fidelity, Across the Universe, 24 Hour Party People, Almost Famous, I'm Not There, Velvet Goldmine, Control etc.
Richard Linklater movies, Monty Python (movies and series), Edgar Wright's movies and series again. Kieslowski, Almodovar, Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Coen Brothers movies..
I love Scandinavian cinema, being Christoffer Boe's Reconstruction my favorite (probably).
and Magnolia! (and many many more I'll add up when I meet you I guess..)
Also, I do watch a lot of anime. Cowboy Bebop is my favorite series and Spirited Away is my favorite film. Recently I have a thing for all of Mamoru Hosoda's animes.

Finally the hardest one, music! For me first there was The Beatles, and there will always be! I grew up listening to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Doors, Simon & Garfunkel etc. (such cool parents have I) (sound like yoda I do) And turned out to be an indie lover in the end!
Lastfm says some of my top artists are The Notwist, Belle and Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, Kings of Convenience, The Clientele, The Magnetic Fields, Felt, Arcade Fire, Suede, Camera Obscura, The Flaming Lips.. Then comes jazz; Erik Truffaz, EST, Bugge Wesseltoft, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Jazzanova, Incognito and more jazzy stuff.
I am a fan of almost all of Morr Music bands, like The Notwist, Ms John Soda, The Go Find, Lali Puna, B. Fleischmann, Tied & Tickled Trio, Styrofoam..
I also like listening to lots of other genres. You have to meet me to find out the rest of the list :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wayne Coyne! Trust me, he's amazing. I told him how a cat peed on my "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" album, he signed it after smelling it. (I haven't done him though)

Paragliding in Ölüdeniz was not bad either. (This I've done)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I prepare a pretty good Turkish breakfast for almost all of my hosts.
I tend to pick my hosts according to common interests, so that we can actually share something and build an actual friendship.
I love hosting people back in my hometown, and I'm known to be a very good guide of Istanbul.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Turkey
