ABOUT ME

We are a couple who like to travel, enjoy the natural outdoors.

We were born in New Zealand and left in 1971 for a working holiday that lasted 7 years: working in Canada, backpacking through Central/South America then working in Africa and backpacking through Africa to Europe, spent a year in Europe sleeping/freecamping, hitchhiked through Scandiavia. Took the Trans-Siberia through communist Russia which got us to Japan which we toured on a borrowed motorbike and then travelled through SE Asia back to NZ. This was before guidebooks.

We returned to Canada to settle & work, and have continued seeing new places, eg recently we spent 4 months in Patagonia, hiking, camping, a couple of years before to SE Asia, last year Iceland for 6 weeks, this year NZ, Australia.

We like meeting new people who share our love of outdoors & travel. We are active in preserving our environment. We are quite quiet,like to read, watch sport - Warrick loves watching soccer/football, we like photography, writing, old European cars.
Otherwise we hike, kayak, snowshoe, cycle & trailbuild.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have used the CS site and it is great, but we would like to meet travellers - backpackers and cyclists as we would like to help them see as much as possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

With our extensive budget-travelling with a backpack and camping/hitchiking, bus travel we have met some very kind and generous hosts, all experience has been positive

Intereses

We have been active in environmental issues for a long time. Our latest mission is to save a local old growth forest (trees up to 1000 yrs old)from logging & development See:http://www2.canada.com/cowichanvalleycitizen/news/story.html?id=9ac33a0b-fa50-4a8a-bec2-0c0ab980e89e The forest is the Koksilah River Ancient Forest.Plus we sit on parks committees.
