Most of my traveling involves getting pretty far off the beaten path, which usually means having to rent a car -- which is a lot more financially and environmentally friendly if I can get someone to share the trip with.

Plus it's no fun hiking on your own: you're screwed if you get hurt and all your photos are selfies...
