I'm a citizen of the world having grown up moving between the US and Europe. Even as an adult, I've worked in three different countries and visited around 68 (some repeats of childhood visits). I'm an IT professional who specializes in web development and I love the work! As far as personality goes, I find I get along with pretty much everyone. Currently, I'm on a grand tour of the world, so I am hoping to meet a lot of new people along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking for a way to get to know new people all over the globe. I've not had the chance to host, but I plan to when I finish my current adventure. In my last apartment, I wasn't allowed spare keys and I didn't want to have visitors held to my comings and goings. I've met a lot of people in hostels, but they always talk about how many more people you get to know when you couchsurf, so that's why I am here.

Interests

Number one, I LOVE to travel and recently began a trip (think months, not weeks) around the world. Beyond that, I love photography, food, video games, movies and all sorts of other things. My biggest life goal is to visit, and do something meaningful, in every country in the world (i.e. layovers don't count). I've made a pretty sizable dent (68/~200), but there's so much more to see and do. Along the way, I've made friends in countries spanning four continents and I'd love to make it six (it seems unrealistic to include Antarctica).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I have likes in almost every category except maybe country and rap. Zedd has been at the top of my list for a while and, in general, I find I listen to pop the most (from varying countries).
Movies: The Godfather, Inception and Easy A are my top three in varying categories. Usually avoid the slapstick comedies in favor of dramedies as the humor feels more real to me.
Books: Again, wide variety. Some non-fiction usually relating to the world and world cultures. Sci-fi and fantasy are up there and I try to read the classics every once and a while to be more learned.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left everything and everyone I knew behind to take a grand journey around the world. I'm starting in Australia, but I'm hoping the trip will take me to the far reaches of every continent before I'm all done.

UPDATE (end of April): I've done most of Asia at this point with only Japan and South Korea remaining before I fly to Europe for a few months.

2ND UPDATE (end of August): Currently in Europe now and about halfway through my time here. I've seen the Baltics and the Balkans and I'm headed on to Western Europe now.

3RD UPDATE (end of October): Finishing my time in Europe before heading to Africa and the Middle East in November-January. Then on to South America in February.

Teach, Learn, Share

I majored in Japanese in college, but I'm rusty. Hoping to practice it when I can. Trying to learn Spanish and stay somewhat current on French.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My travel experiences and other random musings. I try to remain a citizen of the world and vary my interests from learning new languages, practicing piano, playing video games and playing various sports (sand volleyball, basketball and ultimate frisbee come to mind first). I love to experiment with cooking weird new things too. And, I'm always happy to help clean up as I tend to be more tidy than not when I have my own place. Haha.
