About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a sociable and outgoing person who's clean and friendly. I would pretty much be down for anything. Even among my mates, I haven't really been known to have said no, something which I'm not sure is a bad or a good thing...haha. I do have the habit however of running off to see something that peaks my interest. So if you're in a music festival or a carnival of some sort with me, good luck and I'll probably see you in a few hours! I may however be nice enough to inform you of said decision, depending on how interested I am in that random thing that I've just seen. Not only that, sarcasm goes well with me. Especially dark humour. Growing up as a minority has sort of immunised me from racial profiling. So trust me when I say anything goes when it comes to humour even at my expense. :)

I grew up in multiple small towns around Malaysia, but I still always had this thirst to find new people and go to new places, mainly because my dad traveled around quite a bit. But once I hit 17, I ended up moving to China at which point my brain exploded with amount of possibilities to explore. I wanted to see everything and anything which explains my life from there on.

I love learning languages as well and am on my way towards becoming a polyglot. I'm hoping to hit 10 languages by the time I'm 30. This is mainly due to my background of which I'd be more than glad to explain. I just can't be bothered typing my entire life story here...haha

PHILOSOPHY

If you're going to be weird, be confident about it and you either go all out or don't go out :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a student, money isn't really one of the luxuries one has but this has been replaced by my curiosity for exploring new places. I think couchsurfing allows you to travel, meet new people on personal level for a fraction of the cost. And the fact that you have a local by your side to give recommendations, I think gives the best perspective of any place I'm going to.

Interests

Hiking, cycling, reading, travelling, cooking, urban exploring, walking in random directions in a new city, pretending to be french wine connoisseur while enjoying cheap glass of wine of which I probably have minimal knowledge about and marveling at the compatibility of the potato in many different cuisines.

Music, Movies, and Books

As for Music, I'm the kind of person who likes anything with a good beat, from Funk, House, Reggae, Rap, Rock to music from the 60's, 70's, 80's. Pretty much anything which gets my legs moving. Although, I do have a slight preference for funk.

Books on the other hand have been rather a specific genre in which I'm interested in mainly on politics and history. I do enjoy a good novel or two every now and then as well. I definitely think that 1984 was by far the best read I've had.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Slept overnight in one of the guard towers on the Great Wall of China. I must say I have to agree with Karl Pilkington. It's just an alright wall.

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't let the little things bother you when you travel. You never know what's going to happen next, so why waste time in trying to figure out the uncertainty and rather just embrace it because for all you know, you might just end up eating a donkey meat sandwich in China or getting up to an unbeatable view of the Alps.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty good cook when it comes to Malaysian and Indian cuisine, thanks to my dad. Hence, I'd be down to whip a meal if you'd like to try. I also happen to be a pretty good conversationalist mainly due to my wide ranging interests and my tendency to keep talking about the randomest stuff. So if you're up for a chill evening with a few drinks and conversations lasting till sunrise, I'd be more than glad to keep ya company. We could start off at how I ended up at wherever it is I am at that point in life to where in the world did penguins come from.
