About Me
++++ Since couchsurfing is asking money, I'll not be active on this platform anymore. You can find me on Warm Showers: https://www.warmshowers.org/user/145345 feel free to send me a message there.++++
CURRENT MISSION
Help all the toads (frogs) by bringing them safely across the street.
ABOUT ME
My name is Jasmien. I don't know why my parents choose this name, but I am happy with it. Jasmine is the name of the princess who married with Aladdin and it's the name of a delicious tea-flavor. Amazing diversity: Princess and Tea. It couldn't be better!
As a social worker, I'm interested lots of aspects related to my study. I have some experiences with homeless people and I'm always interested in other points of view on poverty of vulnerability.
I am a dreamer and can get really enthusiastic about the things I wanna reach in live. It's my dream to end up in a tree hut in Romania and have a cow and some chickens.
I am a vegetarian, but you don't need to be afraid that I wouldn't like you because you are a meat-eater.
PHILOSOPHY
"First tidy up your room, and then the world."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
During my three months of internship in Romania (Bucharest), I participated a lot. I lived in a big apartment, perfect for inviting people. I enjoyed to be part of the stories and to hear their experiences.
The idea that you have friends all over the world, you just didn't met them yet - amazing. Couchsurfing made me the traveler that I wanted to be.
Interests
Flea markets and second hand shops can make me extremely happy. When I'm sad, it's my cure. When I find a small unique treasure, my day (of even week) will be saved! I've a weakness for buttons, what ended up in a whole unusable collection.
If you want to see me smiling, take me on a cycling tour. I like to feel the wind in my hear, to cycle on my bare feet, to hear the birds, to have a free feeling and to hear nature sounds around me
During summertime I cycle around with friends and go picnicking in the fields or grab a tasteful ice cream. Recently I traveled with my bike from Antwerp to Bratislava.
I'm in love with mountains, it doesn't matter how high they are. I like to go hiking in the nature. While I was in Tanzania, I went to the Kilimanjaro. Amazing experience.
I like to create things, to make little presents for my friends birthdays, to learn children how to make bracelets, to recycle or to reinvent. I make my own earrings from tree fruits, my wallet from an old cassette, a clock from an old LP, I make my own soap, ...
If I ask the people around me about my interests, they said that I also need to mention "Talking about Romania". I suggest everybody to visit it. Romania has everything that a country needs: a nice sea side, beautiful mountains, generous citizens, amazing culture, good food, ... and the possibility to grab a Belgium beer.
I had the opportunity to live during 4 months in Bucharest and till now it was the most amazing time I had.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Coldplay, Jack Johnson, José Gonzalez, Keane, Tracy Chapman, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Junip, ...
My favorite movie is "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain" and Mr Nobody.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the summer of 2013 I made a trip with three friends to Ukrain. We visited Lvov and Kiev, walked for three days in the Carpats and took the night train. But, the highlight of the journey was a visit at the abandoned Chernobyl and Pripyat. You can't reach it without a guide. We've seen an old empty kindergarten, the red forest, Ferris wheel in the famous amusement park which was never open, the nuclear power plant, ...
In 2015 one of my dreams came true: Climbing the Kilimanjaro. I reached the top at 6 a.m. and saw the sun coming up over Kenya and Tanzania from the highest point of Africa. Pure nature, pure happiness.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to learn more languages (Romanian), to see more places around the world and just to grow older and get wiser.
I can teach you how to make soap, how to make an origami-bird or tell you things about Belgium (or Romania).
Would be nice to share a story and a beer!
