About Me

Hello and guten Tag!
My name is Jasmin, I am a 20 y/o German aupair in my second year, currently living close to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I've spent my first year living close to Washington DC, the capital city of the United States.
I am living with a hostfamily and I take care of their kids...that's the main thing that aupairs do. That is also the reason why I can't host anybody...sorry for that!
A very nice side effect of aupairing is traveling and exploring the US. I want to see as much of the US and other countries as possible and meeting new people and maybe making new friends would be awesome!

I graduated from German highschool in 2015 and after that I worked in a daycare center for children for one year.
I came to the US in August 2016 and since then I have made great friends and traveled a bit already.

I am very reliable, responsible, humorous and openminded and I like meeting new people.

Maybe you are the next?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because I hope to meet new people in the cities that I will explore. And I believe that locals and private people in general can give you a special and sometimes rather different view on the city/town/place than the mainstream info you can find on the web.
You can always learn so much from other people's experiences and I think that's a great thing. I am still so young and I want to see so much and I hope to learn as much on the way as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am someone who does not have FAVORITES.

I love so many things that it is impossible to write all of them down.

But I can say that when I learn about a new thing and I like it, I usually get absolutely obsessed and turn into a super fangirl - but after a couple of weeks (or sometimes months) this euphoria ebbs away and I can talk normally about it without having to tell my conversation partner every little thing about the thing that I am obsessed with :D

I hope this doesn't scare you away. I am a nice and funny person, really!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on that airplane in August 2016 to begin a whole new life thousands of miles away from my home in Germany to live here in the US for at least one year - and I love it so far.
That was the biggest decision of my life and I am proud that I made it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Like I said above, I think that you can learn so much by traveling and by meeting and actually talking to other people.
It's great to hear other people's opinions on various topics and their point of view on the world.
And it's always fun to disprove the stereotype that every German is serious and humorless all of the time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Funny stories and pictures.
Everything you want to know about Germany (given that I actually know it) and German words/phrases.
The best German pancake recipe there is and my view on things going on in the world.
