About Me

Hi, I'm Jasmine from Melbourne, Australia.

Some of my favourite things in life are travelling, foraging wild foods, growing food, eating good food, listening to podcasts, reading books and going for walks in nature. I love meeting people, sharing good company and having conversations about people and the world.

At home I was working as an occupational therapist in the area of mental health, but my contract came to an end, so I’ve taken the opportunity to go travelling in Europe for the second time round. I’ve been visiting old friends, taking time out to appreciate nature, exploring my interest in Permaculture through Workaway and making many new friends along the journey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I really feel that it’s the people you meet on your travels that shape your experience, not necessarily the places. So I want to meet the locals and enjoy a meaningful experience of the place I’m in

Music, Movies, and Books

My most recent favourite book is The Art of Frugal Hedonism by Annie Raser-Rowland and Adam Grubb. A book that challenges the consumerist society that we live in today, and discusses all the wonderful sensory experiences we can relish in life with little need for money.

I also love listening to podcasts, and some of my favourite podcasts are Tea With Alice (hosted by comedian Alice Fraser), The Slow Home Podcast and All in the Mind (an ABC podcast about all things pyschology and mental health related).

I'm not a huge movie buff, but a movie I really enjoyed recently was Harold and Maude, a movie from the 70's with an awesome soundtrack of Cat Stevens songs!

I love music: listening to it, going to gigs and also playing some guitar and drums and singing. I particularly like folk, rock, acoustic and alternative.

Some of my favourite artists include Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Paul Kelly, Darren Hanlon, The Beatles, The Smiths, Midnight Oil, Fairport Convention and many others! And I always like being introduced to artists that I haven't yet discovered

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I did a Permaculture Design Course, which inspired me to improve my practical skills in permaculture living. So I’ve been doing some Workaway experiences on permaculture properties around the world and gaining insights into ways of living a more resilient lifestyle.

I also went paragliding over the Parque Natural da Arrábida in Portugal, challenging my fear of heights, but discovered that it was such a freeing, meditative, calming and beautiful experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love sharing food, stories and conversations. Perhaps I can tell you about permaculture, we can cook together or make music together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking together, going out for a drink/meal/to see a gig, going for walks, cleanliness, conversations, and my calm presence
