Über mich

Hello! Hej Hej!
I am from Hong Kong and currently exchanging in Uppsala University, Sweden. I study Medicine back in Hong Kong, but I also took Earth Science and Swedish courses as interest ;) During my exchange in Sweden, I am taking some interesting courses on Dinosaurs, Evolution Biology and Swedish society & culture. Basically I have plenty of interests and enjoy to explore different areas other than my profession! I must say I am not a boring medical student! I am always trying to make my life more than a single profession. I love exploring and nature and animals!

Before the semester exchange, most countries I have been to are in Asia (Taiwan, Japan, South Korea). Other than short travelling trips, I had also a trip to Sichuan and Tibet, exploring the western unknown part of China (glaciers and the special landscape are so unique that I personally think that it worths going a lot! Once in a life time bucket list XD)

Last summer, I participated in a one-month volunteering program in Gansu (a very rural and backward province of China) to evaluate the healthcare system, as well as advocating recycling program. Instead of bringing professional knowledge to the poorer, we indeed learnt some traditional wisdom from the locals. They make bricks with mud in delicate proportion to build environmentally friendly houses that are warm in winter and cool in summer :0

During exchange, I travelled to Paris, Belgium, Prague, Hungary, Austria and Kiruna. Will be heading to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey later! I used to hate history since I can never remember the time properly. HOWEVER, after the trip to Eastern Europe with my friend who give me 'private history foundation course', I realise history can be fun and at the same time, able to explain many current cultural phenomena! (I am now studying Scandinavian history on my own and enjoying myself ahahhaa)

During exchange, I had lot of chances to chitchat with student all over the world. I enjoy listening to others' stories and telling my own story. So I hope I can have chances to know more about your places of living and your personal story! (I am very easy to talk to ahahhaha and I can tell you more about the issues in Hong Kong in an in-depth way, as well as the sensitive geological political issues :p)

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Travelling and living in hotel or hostels makes me feel too touristy, which I never get to feel the culture well. This thought occupies my mind ever since I studied the Swedish culture and Society course at Uppsala. The introduction website and blogs can only give a glimpse to the place itself. But the culture and history can only be felt and told by a local ;) I would love to understand a place more.

And most importantly! Meet new friends and share! I am eager to learn culture, social and history and listen to your opinion!

Musik, Filme und Bücher

pop, kpop, jazz , Chinese drama, Korean drama, Percy Jackson
Movie: Batman series, Inception, Ghibli's cartoon series (esp. Howl's moving castle! And Spirited Away, Schindler’s list, Joker...
Basically I like movies that can give me some aftertaste and thoughts.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Climbed Mount Hua in Xian,China at night. The highest peak was 2155m. Sounds like it was not very high, yet most parts are vertical. The only support would be metal chain on two sides for you to raise yourself up.

Climbed a wild part of The Great Wall in Beijing. Because without proper care and repair, it is quite challenging. Some parts of it are well-exposed and bricks falling off.

Visited Kiruna is Arctic circle.

Went to Sichuan and Tibet (didnt experience any High Altitude Disease :p)

many more fun things and exploration can be shared in details!

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can share with you my knowledge in medicine and health (if you do not think it is to boring ahahhaa) Otherwise, I can share my opinion on culture, social-political issues, philosophy and history! I can also teach Chinese and Cantonese for your simple communication when travelling (maybe Swedish too~)

And since I have had some medium-length journey in China, I can say I am quite familiar with China and her culture. Trust me, it would be interesting to understand as things inside China is quite different from the rigid portrait! (the scenery in western and northern europe is also fabulous. Its beauty is different from what I see in Europe!)

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

I love dancing, hiking, exercising. It is possible we can shed some sweat together if you want!

I also love cooking and baking a lot. As I am quite free during my exchange, I baked myself bread pudding, sago desserts, quiche... It is also possible to cook you Asian food. I quite often made chinese-style sweet soup and dishes for my flatmate! Sharing food is the happiest thing on earth! Understand a country through food is a good way!
