About Me

Hello!! I recently moved to Scotland to work in wildlife conservation on the bonny shores of Loch Lomond. I feel like I have moved to the most beautiful place in the world and have thoroughly fallen in love with Scotland. I am now also studying a masters in Forestry in the hope that I will be able to work on creating community woodlands where people of all backgrounds can experience and learn about nature.

In the past I spent 6 months hitchhiking and couchsurfing around Europe which was one of the most life-affirming experiences I've ever had - I met wonderful people who I am still friends with and found my faith in humanity. I have travelled and worked in Africa and Asia also - but for now I want to get to know the land and the people closer to home, because it is important to appreciate whats on your doorstep.

I like to travel at a slow pace without too many plans, mainly hitchhiking, exploring the wilderness and talking to people. I am very easy going, but clean and tidy and prefer to have a laugh and get to know people rather than seeing all the touristic sites.

I am very interested in art and nature and like to visit beautiful places where I can sit and draw for a while. Alternatively, being English, I am also a big fan of a party and sharing drinks and stories with new people in bars.

My philosophy is to be openminded and interested in everything; culture, languages, food etc and to be be educated constantly by the world around me. But, most importantly, it is to laugh!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because travelling is about the people you meet, not the places you stay. Through meeting people you get to learn about the culture of the country you are visiting and share tales about your own culture. The most fancy hotel can be the most lonely, whereas sharing good conversation and laughing with people makes you feel alive.

Music, Movies, and Books

As an English Literature graduate choosing favorite books is like choosing favorite family members, impossible! But, on the whole, I love discussing and attempting to understand philosophy and reading poetry.

Music is best when it is live, like when you turn a street corner and there is an old guy playing Spanish guitar or when a bar is so packed you can barely move but everyone is singing along to a rock band.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I motorbiked through Vietnam and Cambodia on a twenty year old Honda with no experience but sheer will power not to fail!
