About Me
Nothing pulls you back into the lecture hall like a couple years in the private sector. My CV reads like the STEM version of Dirty Jobs. I'm work-studying these days and can't believe I didn't make the switch to engineering earlier.
Aspirations of roadtrips, fishing, kayaking, and cycling are on the agenda this summer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was introduced to Couchsurfing by an ex actually. We hosted a wonderful father and daughter from Switzerland in Vancouver. I've always loved showing people around my favourite places, which is basically all of British Columbia. After that experience, they mentioned hosting couchsurfers and I thought it was a wonderful concept.

Music, Movies, and Books
Dataclysm by Rudder is an excellent read for a glimpse into what you've always suspected.
Dawkin's Selfish Gene explains our slants.
Atwood's Oryx and Crake trilogy makes it onto this list for breast-flowers (just read it).
Recent favourites include
Big Hero 6, Whiplash, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (most of Daniel Craig's work, really);
Daredevil, Suits, Modern Family, Scrubs, Top Chef;
NAO, Skye Edwards, Katie Noonan, Majestic Casual, and Alabama Shakes.
Honourable mention to every concerto Itzhak Perlman ever graced.
FOOD. Now this I could talk about, for hours. I feel every city, culture, or country has a delicious dish yet to be spotlit. Anthony Bourdain lives my dream life, sans past heroin addiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So I was on the shot-put team in high school. My coach was a burly man -- half beard, half pecs -- who observed my technique one day while shaking his head, "No son, look. It's all in the hips." He picked up the ball, pivoted his chest like an owl, and threw that iron across town.
The memory resurfaced recently. While fishing one fateful summer's day, a group of exchange students came to the dock, quizzically trying out a crab trap they recently purchased; they flagged me down in hopes for advice.
I knew my time had come.
Grasping that line of rope, I channeled beardman's wisdom and with an almighty, "IT'S ALL. IN. THE HIPS!", I launched that cage into orbit. The crowd cheered, fireworks whistled skyward, and I was given a key to the city. True story.
Teach, Learn, Share
I was fortunate to grow up in a bicultural household, but it leaves brevity to be desired in autobiographies like this. I like diversity in my days and try to say yes to most propositions; I feel that any experience can add something worthwhile to one's life.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories, thoughts, perspectives, an ear to listen, a shared drink. I spent a lot of my childhood trying to figure out the best way to use my efforts and energy in the world. It's been a rollercoaster 28 years so there's plenty to chat about.
And please, if you're ever in Vancouver, I'd love to catch up after my Europe trip in summer 2018.
