About Me
Hi peoples,
I'm Jason, a traveller from New Zealand who's loving Europe so much I might never make it back home! I'm currently exploring Europe one city, one festival, one dance at a time, meeting awesome people, seeing life through their eyes, and figuring out more about myself.
My interests are pretty random, and I love talking and finding out about almost anything under the sun. With an engineering background, the sciences are dear to me. But I also love music, movies, and movement. I think reading showed me how much fun it is discovering what things people are moved by, and experiencing a fuller range of emotions (joy and sadness, love and passion, curiosity and discipline). My current addiction is dance (Brazilian Zouk, West Cost Swing, Kizomba, Tango, and Blues), while previously I've spend plenty of time rock climbing, and skiing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm finding as I'm starting to travel less for the sights and art/architecture, and more for the people. I get fascinated less by the amazing, and more by the mundane and common-place.
It's fun exploring and observing the similarities and differences in how people do every day things. Are the neighbours close or far? How many people live together? What's in a meal/shopping trip? How do we get to work or spend our free time?
It's also fun exploring a city with a local. To find the small nooks and crannies. To have pointed out some berry bushes that are fucked away. A rock that's perfectly sheltered from the wind and great for sunbathing. The pond that all the kids learnt to skate on in winter. The two men who have played chess on that bench since before you lived here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Three years ago I left work to be a ski bum for a season. This year, I left work to be a Zouk-bum for a few months.
I wonder where my passions will take me next time?
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to share my eyes. Often a fresh set can make the ordinary feel new again, bringing back a sense of the wonder when you saw something for the first time!
I like to share my ears. We have stories to tell. Painful and joyous, big and small, fearful and triumphant.
I like to share movement to music. Whether you think you can't dance, or started ballet before you could walk. We can all enjoy moving to music. We can dance Zouk or Blues or West coast Swing, or fusion. I lead, I follow, I switch roles.
What I Can Share with Hosts
It's amazing how much more fun it is to cook for more than just myself. Let's find some ingredients, cook it up, set the table, and spend some quality time together with food!
