About Me

Hi everybody! My name is Jason and I'm a 29 year old American backpacker, vagabonder, and musician. I have been living the vagabond lifestyle for about the past three years: I float from place to place with no real route or schedule, I stay and spend time in the places that I like, and I find work when I need to make more money. In that time, I have spent 18 months in Central and South America, where I traveled, taught English, worked at hostels, worked at an artist residency and worked on a permaculture homestead. The last two summers I have also worked on a commercial salmon fishing boat in Alaska to make money and have spent time traveling around the US and Canada.

I love the outdoors: hiking, camping, backpacking, swimming, etc. I also really love music and I always try and travel with my guitar. I am always open to sharing music and would love to hear others play and/or play with them! I love adventures, meeting new people, and becoming immersed in new cultures. I am very easy-going and respectful and I always avoid drama and try and diffuse any conflicts. I am personable and love to chat and exchange stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am heading to India soon and I figured it would be a good time to try Couch surfing. I have always heard about it from my fellow travelers, however I have never tried it myself. I find that meeting locals is a great way to really get a feel for a city and a culture and I always try and make local friends. This feels like a more formal way of meeting people that I am excited to try! I have never been to India, so I am eager to learn about the culture, the people, the food, the practices, etc.
