About Me

Hello!
I am a mid-30's Registered Nurse who is looking for explore more of the world and expand my experiences. I sent myself to Ireland in 2003, but have not done any major traveling since then. Soon here I will be going to Scotland to finally experience the culture that has impacted my identity since childhood. I am MacGreggor on my father's side, and McCallum on my mother's side.

I am an easy going, typically quiet person; however I can be very high energy, and excitable especially when I'm with positive, energetic folks. I have a love and fascination of stories and experiences, so I am really hoping to meet people who will share tales and adventures from their own lives while I'm traveling.

I like to believe that I am courteous, considerate, and polite; especially when I am being hosted. I do my best to leave little to no trace, cleaning up after myself and assisting when I can.

I was asked once if I have a life motto... I haven't thought about this; but I think if I were to have one, it would probably be along the lines of "Be genuine to people."

Thank you for opening up your living space. :)

~Jason

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm working on developing a pallet for Scotch and plan to try and visit a number of distilleries throughout Scotland.

I have also had the best experiences visiting places when you can get to know someone who lives there and can help point you to the more fascinating, but lesser known aspects of their home city.

I'm on Couchsurfing because I want to explore more of the world than what I can find in my own country.

Interests

I have an interest in many of the geek culture elements (sci-fi, Dr. Who, technology, science, etc), but I also enjoy experiencing archaeology, history; really just anything that has... old energy, for lack of a better description. Ireland had been rather profound for me in an almost reverent sense and I'm hoping to experience similar things in these upcoming travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really have a broad range when it comes to music, movies, and books.

When I'm working in my shop, I will often pick Jazz, Old Rock, Alternative, and occasionally Rap-Metal. I also enjoy melodic Dubstep and Chillstep. I try not to form an solid prejudice against any genre of music as I usually find something I'll enjoy, even if its only a minor example here or there.

As for books, I'm often drawn to Sci-Fi or Fantasy. Myth and Myth.Inc were great tongue-in-cheek fantasy series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I built a laser cutter from the ground up. That was pretty neat. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

One of my major activities in the Summer months is volunteering with medical teams for various festivals. For the past two years now, I have been the Medical lead for a regional pre-BurningMan festival called SOAK, in the Pacific Northwest. These events have created many stories over the years.

I'm also not too shabby of a Blues Dancer. :)
