About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living and working in Beijing and traveling when I can.

ABOUT ME

a californian rucksack wander. i freelance because i can't hold a steady job down.

PHILOSOPHY

"Occassionally I meet people who are more interested in how many countries I've been to than in those I might know well or particularly like. If 'well-travelled' is defined only by the number of places I've been, then I suppose I'm not. But I feel I really know and have really seen the places I've visited, which is how I define 'well-travelled'. I travel to see how people live in other parts of the world - not to check countries off a list - and doing that requires immediately adapting to the local race and rythm and hopefully sticking around for more than a few days."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

once did a visa run through mongolia that involved hitchhiking across the border, crawling through a fence, and playing cards with the border police while waiting for a vehicle to cross back ... all in -10c bitter winter cold!

Teach, Learn, Share

travelling without a guidebook is sorta like watching a movie with the sound turned off. Bunch of pretty images, but you have no idea what's going on.

That said, when you arrive at your destination, put down your guidebook and enjoy what the place naturally gives you!

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Canada, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam
