Overview
About Me
Part-time professor in post-capitalist transformation of business: the social economy. Coops and non-profit ways of doing business, that sort of thing. I also coach social economy businesses in Montreal. Meanwhile I am raising two kids part-time and try to help them become straight-standing confident adults. I finished my book on free public transit movements around the world and am working on my next book about Montreal politics. Jolly good fun!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My Vietnamese tutor recommended it! (November 2019). I hosted some supercool people from Couchsurfing back in 2012-14 and I am still in touch with them. Time to try again! Hen gap lai! :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
Hmm. So many. Urban farming; roots of cinema/von Trier; Gibson/Star Trek/Red Mars; Harvey/Orwell; the Greeks then and now; Denys Arcand. And so many more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Took the Trans Siberian Express? But got on the wrong train in Moscow. The KGB had to fix the problem. It was a bit stressful. And then I got off in Mongolia without a visa. More secret police. What was I thinking? I was young.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to learn about life on the ground in other cities, as a way of opening up how that city, country, economy and politics work. I play pool. I can help you think it through, whatever it is. Except if it has to do with women. I still don’t understand women.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I do walking tours in downtown Montreal. I know lots of things about my city. Probably too much.
