About Me
I spent the last summer in Europe and I'm headed back in March, but for now I'm home. I've had some fantastic experiences and been hosted by lovely people on CS. While I'm home, I'd like to host some folks to keep that travel energy going and because travelers are my people. I understand how hard it is to find a host sometimes. I often send out dozens of requests with no response, so I don't need your life story, but do tell me a little about yourself. I'm especially inclined towards vegans, surfers, and content creators.

I read Nietzsche and listen to heavy metal. I train Jiu jitsu and practice yoga. I write poetry, and surf, and ride my my Harley down the coast at night. I listen to Alan Watts and play guitar. I sing at the top of my lungs and practice my headstands. I look a little rough, and I can be, but I’ve got a gentle heart. I believe we’ve got one life and one chance to live it. So we should indulge in any pleasure, but also practice kindness and compassion and help to alleviate suffering where we find it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It is really essential for me to connect with local people in the places I visit and to connect in a deeper way than what is possible in brief interactions in the markets or cafes. I have virtually zero interest in sight seeing.
I want to know people and how they think and how they live. Likewise, I'm vegan and I love to meet and eat with vegans around the world! Of course, if you're an omnivore we can get along and still share some meals and good times, it's just that other vegans know all the good spots for me and all the local products to try.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once had a flight from Maryland delayed for 3 days because of weather. I was due back for my band's final show at our record label's annual festival. Well, it turns out, I didn't arrive in LA until hours before the show with just a dress shirt to wear. I drove through thick Los Angeles traffic to the venue with just enough time for my ex-wife to park the car while I ran into the venue just as we were walking on stage. I still had no shirt, so everyone took their shirts off...We were definitely not rock stars, but walking on to play for a sold-out venue was the most rock-star moment of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I guess more than anything I have to offer, it's just to please please know that the world is far more complicated than what can be boiled down to 160 characters or a meme. We are all very susceptible to cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias. Above all strive to have empathy, especially for those you disagree with, and be kind to one another. I profess to know nothing absolutely and am comfortable with that. In a world that seeks decisiveness in opinion and punishes moderation, I gladly reply that I just don't have all the answers...and neither do you, but it's all right.
What I Can Share with Hosts
In 2017, I was certified in Nuad Boran/Thai Yoga Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I love practicing Thai Yoga Massage and I am always happy to share this with my hosts if they have the space for it(it requires a bit of floor space)
I'm very competent in vegan cooking. I'm always happy to cook or teach anyone to cook some vegan dishes we make back home. I'm especially adept at cooking Thai, Indian, and Mexican foods.
I'm also an English teacher. It is hard to do a lot in a short visit, but I'm able to offer practice speaking clear and concise English.
I am a writer, poet, and editor of a literary journal. I would gladly help with editing any English writing, including professional writing, though this is not my specialty.
I also worked in a specialty coffee shop. I am more than ready to educate anyone about the more technical home-brewing methods and how to select the best coffees.
