Ever since my parents allowed me to travel abroad alone, I have participated in several international youth exchanges and volunteer projects, starting with a Dutch-German volunteer youth group that unearthed the foundations of the barracks in the infamous concentration camp Bergen-Belsen. Furthermore, I have done a European Voluntary Service (EVS) project in an international hosting centre in the South Alps for the organization Solidarités Jeunesses, the French branch of Youth Action for Peace. I have also met many inspiring people from all over the world. Trains are my favourite means of transport and I have already spend many hours in them. By train I have visited almost all post-Soviet countries, also Central, South and West Europe. I have also visited Israel and the (illegally occupied) Palestinian territories, but went there by plane.
