Overview
About Me
Hi there,
I'll keep it brief here, as I think it's much more fun to talk about these things in person. My name is Jasper and I've been on couchsurfing since 2012. Since then I've gone to many meets and hosted many people and in the process met some of my best friends and learned a lot about the world. My job takes me to a different country every couple of years and being part of an international community such as this one makes that even more enjoyable.
I currently live in the city centre of Birmingham.
PHILOSOPHY
pensare con il cuore e amare con la testa
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I've only hosted, sometimes from the emergency list, as I don't plan far ahead. But perhaps next year I'll do some travelling..
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It's addictive! I met some of my closest friends in Frankfurt at the CS meetup (we are travelling the west coast this summer together), so I decided to start hosting as well. It's amazing how much you can learn from hearing the stories of people you wouldn't normally meet.
Interests
Open Science, software architecture, Wine, Food & cooking, global politics, going out, and of course travel
Music, Movies, and Books
Some things that come to my mind right now
Books: The Beach, Il sombra del viento, Murakami
Movies: Lost in Translation, Woody Allen, wuxia movies
Shows: Entourage, Fringe, Game of Thrones
Music: Fiona Apple, the XX
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once had a complete meal in Puglia (including drinks, spices, dessert) of which all ingredients came from the cook's garden!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach programming, I teach psychology and brain science for work, and am really into cooking salads these days. Other than that it's always fun to learn new languages.
Countries I’ve Lived In
Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States
