ABOUT ME

I love nature, culture, discovering, maybe just like everybody else, but nonetheless.
My life has expanded a lot due to a wonderful master I did with an amazing group of international people in Sweden. Hence I joined CS. I may be quiet at some times, but I balance that out in positive craziness at other times!
I work with sustainable housing in the city where I live, where you have to combine your idealism with the harsh reality of everyday environmental modernisation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host people here in The Hague, and use Couchsurfing during my travels. Often I already met people via other ways to surf with, but Couchsurfing remains a very nice option.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Staying in France, couchsurfing and working at a farm with other couchsurfers.
I went Paragliding in Arribida, Portugal together with a bunch of couchsurfers.
I met up in Wuhan and Xi'an (China) with people from couchsurfing, to talk, discover the city and experience local life.

Interests

Interested in meeting new cultures, discussing with people and evenings talking.

I have a strong passion for nature, which means I can tell you the names of many of the local plants, and can also show you the edible ones.

Within music I listen to a lot: jazz, soul and a lot of world music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Father and son adventurous month in Nepal, getting to know each other; discovering your limits.

Hiking trek in Sarek, Sweden; seeing reindeer from 10 m distance, sliding down snow slopes in the middle of nowhere, taking baths in freezing melt water streams...

A very bureaucratic negotiation process at the COP-15 climate conference in Copenhagen. I was there 3 out of 5 days.

Listen to E.O. Wilson talk about how scientist should get off their chairs and walk into politics; the most invigorating speech I have heard in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you field biology; have a library of field guides (in dutch) you can borrow about all kinds of insects, bugs, sea shells, plants and the like. If you want we can go out, and we can study together, or i can take you for a walk and we can cook afterwards with the stuff we collected!
