Overview
About Me
I am a writer. I write fiction and memoirs. Currently I am working on a political thriller set in New York City.
I grew up in Kabul, Afghanistan. There, I worked with the United Nations for four years before moving to the US to pursue my higher education. I graduated, as an adult student, in 2010 after which I did some translation work for documentary films on Afghanistan including "The Snow Leopards of Afghanistan" by National Geographic. In 2012, I joined a nonprofit foundation in New York that work to promote civil society and human rights around the world.
I love travel, cooking, and swimming. In September I will be in Sri Lanka for two weeks. I am emceeing a storytelling event in Colombo. I love to cook Afghan food and other cuisines as many times as I get a chance. I also love music and meeting new people from around the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think Couchsurfing is a great community that brings people together. I am someone who has brought people together by way of storytelling events, similar to that of the Moth. Couchsurfing gives people to enrich their lives with knowledge and perspectives from others in an beautifully intimate way. Hospitality is a great feature of the culture I grew up in so I appreciate this innovative way of connecting to others.
