About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet new people, see new places, learn new things

ABOUT ME

I'm chill, honest, and good listener. I don't smoke, drink or do any drugs. I grew up in California. I have lived in Iowa, Philadelphia, and Kansas City, MO. I like to think and talk about ideas about the universe, politics, culture, human sexuality, psychology, and the future. I have a passion to make the world a better place. I have done two AmeriCorps programs and loved them. Like going bowling, mini golf, long walks in big city downtowns and parks, and simple things like throwing a Frisbee around at the park. I just ended my job for a non-profit that serves the homeless in the kc area.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to not live a normal life. Try to have every year a very different year, full of new experiences, people and places. I want to prevent and reduce suffering in my life and others as well as increasing and expanded opportunities for joy in myself and others. I do this by working for nonprofits, being generally helpful and trying to inspire others to do good.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like non-fiction books about philosophy and the science of human behavior. Some of my favorites are Freakonomics, , Culture of Fear, Evolution of Desire, Outliers, Tipping Point, and Blink. But lately I've been doing most of my reading online. I'm a bit of a news/info junkie.

I like movies that make you think, sci-fi movies, disaster/survival movies, and foreign films. Some favorites are City of God, Amelie, Malèna, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Children of Men, Kinsley, 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, Memento, I Am A Sex Addict, and The Machinist.

I like all types of music. Anything from System of a Down to Lady Gaga. Bad Romance is my favorite song right now. I also like listening to instrumental music. Many are themes from movies.

I love food. I eat meat but I like discovering more delicious vegetarian/vegan food. I'm trying to learn to cook more.

Shows: The Office, workaholics, Its always sunny in Philadelphia, the rachel maddow show, the Daily Show and Colbert Report. Breaking bad, arrested development.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did this team based service program called AmeriCorps NCCC. For ten months full time, I got to travel around the midwest, mostly Iowa, and did a variety of service projects to help communities. Transportation, food and housing was taken care of by the program. Projects included disaster relief, conservation, beautification, poverty reduction, and more.
