Overview
About Me
Hi!
I was born in Nicaragua, however I moved to Miami with my family as a teenager. I currently live in New York City and I have been there for the last 15 years - I just love New York! summer better than winter.
I work as an Environmental Engineer in New York. I got my bachelor degree on Mechanical Engineer at the University of Florida. My work consists mostly on designing or supervising renewable energy projects.
I am also very passionate about photography, specially documentary and fine art photography. I am currently pursuing a couple of projects. One of them is a photo essay about the "Mochilero" backpacker culture. I usually take portraits of travelers and I give them an instantaneous photo with my old Polaroid camera.
My other project involves my own personal experience traveling around South America.
I have a website if you would like to check it out (www.jchavarria.com). The photos there involved different projects.
I am very friendly and I have a phenomenal group of friend in New York. I have never done couch surfing so I don't have any references right now except for one in airbnb if you would like to check it out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe couch surfing is a great experience and the best way to meet people and build great friendships.
As I mentioned earlier, my current photography project involves South America and meeting someone local is a great way to learn about the area.
