About Me

I'm a soon to be graduate biochemist, preparing to become a Chemistry teacher come September. Most definitely not your typical Oxonian, I don't even like port!

Originally born and raised in a remote corner of northern Spain, I've lived up and down the UK since I was 13. Moving up quite a bit as a kid, I've learned to explore and appreciate the little things wherever I go. Hungry for knowledge and thirsty for new experiences, I introduce myself proudly wearing a "young professional" badge but without renouncing to the cheerful and adventurous spirit from that gap year I never had.

Pleasantly extroverted, I love meeting new people, sharing cultures, thoughts and traditions to establish deep connections through mutual understanding and respect. Joyfully adorable and with a quick sense of wit, I'm equally happy going down for a stroll to the pub, the local art gallery or having a cosy night in with mates .

Heartlessly passionate and spontaneous, I'm ready to take in the world and hope you'll like to be part of my journey of discovery.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This year I enter the great unknown graduate life and will be hectically roaming the world with my newfound freedom. Combine that with a new, stable wage and the long vacations customary of a teaching position and I've got myself the perfect opportunity to use Couchsurfing. Whether it is to visit old friends, explore a European city for a weekend and longer journeys far and beyond; I hope that this site will help me find likeminded people with whom to share my experiences and have a great time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
A rather eclectic mix of anything from Portuguese indie rock to obscure French electro and K-rap, including your good all charts and 1980's synth. I find deep pleasure in jazz, ambient and instrumental music but can also turn it up with some bachata and latin beats. Fully democratic when constructing a party playlist and always happy to hear new sounds.

Movies:
French, Italian and Japanese film and aesthetics inspire me. Both classics and new wave stuff. Preferably those that pass the Bechdel test and have complex narratives about what it means to be alive.

Books:
Avid Murakami reader. I love to ponder life with works the likes of Voltaire, Proust, Oscar Wilde, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Pablo Neruda and Kundera. Secretly devourer of self-help books and science communication.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whether it's volunteering at outreach events, Pride events and being part of the university counselling service; I love being part of a community and giving back any way I can. I also hope that, through my efforts in teaching and my own scientific research, I can help inspire new generations to follow meaningful careers and deepen our understanding of neurodegeneration and cognitive diseases.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
Languages, culinary expertise and jolly-go-round feels.

Learn:
Any knowledge you'd like to share but coding could be a great start.
