Over the summer, my good friend Gaspard and I are traveling the European side backpacking so that I can gain some perspective and learn more about the world before heading to Chapman University for college this fall. I am from Austin, Texas, and Gaspard is from France. I hosted him in my home for a full academic year, and now he is returning the favor by touring Europe with me! We hope to meet as many people as we can and learn more about the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I am exploring the world, I think the best way to travel is by learning about the culture and enveloping myself in it. I learned through hosting an exchange student from France for a whole school year that when you stay with people of the host country, not only do you have a much better time, but your perspective widens and the world truly opens up. Traveling is about the journey, and the journey is about the people you meet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've not only played soccer (futbol) at the highest level of youth soccer in the United States, but I have also made movies for my school and through this I have earned a scholarship to Chapman University, one of the best film schools in the United States. It has an acceptance rate in my major of study of 6%, and I am thrilled to be studying there in the fall. I have saved up a few thousand dollars to backpack through Europe first, and I am hoping to broaden my life through this trip.
