Présentation
À propos de moi
Hey! I'm a recent college graduate traveling around the world while working - living between Sydney/Singapore at the moment and working on building systems that allow financial institutions to integrate machine learning into their daily operations. I've been technically homeless (and living out of a duffel bag) for nearly the past two years. Math/computer science/AI are my first love and I couldn't be happier that we live in an age in which computers are portable (and so are ideas!).
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I'm excited to start a month-long trip through southern China this winter, from Shanghai to Hong Kong, to learn about a culture/people/language that has always fascinated me. Couchsurfing seems like the ideal way to do it! My Mandarin is (as of 13/12/2016) just barely good enough to get me into some funny/interesting situations, but I'm really excited to learn more. In my experience, the best way to learn a language is to (1) go on adventures w/ locals and (2) find yourself in challenging situations (usually on aforementioned adventures) where you are forced to learn to communicate as fast as possible ;)

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I was an exchange student in Japan while in high school; at one point, I made up an excuse to go from my small home city to Tokyo to help out a neighbor from the USA who was visiting for a conference. While hanging out in Shibuya, I met a 50-something-year-old woman who represented a weird christian cult (they believed Jesus had visited Japan) who took me on a 20 minute train ride to the outskirts of Tokyo to hear more... they ended up baptizing me by dunking me in water repeatedly haha. It could have totally been the beginning to a horror movie. But now I'm part of a Japanese pseudo-christian cult that has a branch in NYC. So I've got that going for me, which is great.

Teach - ever wondered wtf is AI/machine learning and how does it work? This can be an until-4-AM conversation and I couldn't be happier to talk about it :)
Learn - Chinese culture, history and Mandarin! I've always been fascinated and can't wait to really dig in to learning about what makes China tick.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
I'm happy to take you out for dinner, drinks, clubbing, dancing, karaoke, etc... you name it!
Otherwise, intellectual conversation and (hopefully) a different perspective than what you are used to hearing.
