Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m an immensely curious person, always asking questions and on the hunt for a wide variety of vastly different knowledge. I guess that’s why my travel spirit is always alive, and I’ve always enjoyed meeting people with different backgrounds from all over the world and learning about their cultures and perspectives.

I value time over money, experiences over possessions, and people over things. And I guess my values are somehow reflected in the way I host and surf.

As a host, I enjoy showing people around the city and learning about each person’s unique story. I've hosted/met up with many travelers in Washington D.C. and many of them are still good friends to this date which I always make an effort to stay in touch as often as possible. To me, it's always a great pleasure to hear people had good memories about the city not only because of the sights they have seen but also because of their experiences of meeting/staying with me.

As a surfer, I enjoy seeing the touristic sights just like anybody else, but for me more importantly it always comes down to the people that I meet along the way that make or break the trip. Yes, it would be nice to be hosted and save money on accommodation, but I’m actually more interested in meeting new people, sharing interesting ideas, and creating genuine connections. So whenever I crash the couch, it's mainly for the interesting company rather than having a free place to sleep.
